Translators' competences
The quality of your translated document ultimately boils down to the professional competences of the individual translator working on your document. These competences, according to the European standard related to translation services, include
- translating competence
- linguistic and textual competence in the source language and the target language
- research competence, information acquisition and processing
- cultural competence
- technical competence
What does it all mean to you? You need to have someone to translate your texts who is not only a master of the source and target languages but also has all the skills to render the translated text in accordance with all applicable quality criteria.
On top of that, they need to be aware of where to acquire the additional linguistic and specialised knowledge necessary to understand the source text and to produce the target text, and they need to understand the cultural values of the target audience to make sure they interpret your text exactly the way you meant it. Needless to say, translators need to be equipped with all the technical resources necessary to produce the translated text.
How does our team of Hungarian translators match these requirements? Each of us has university-level, language-related education backed up with more than a decade-long experience in working for diverse clientele from all over the world. We are all native Hungarian speakers from Hungary and we translate into our mother tongue. In addition, we have close contacts with the University of Debrecen, and whenever expertise is needed, we have researchers and lecturers to turn to in most diverse fields ranging from medicine to music, architecture to history, economy to law, etc.
We use state-of-the-art equipment including CAT tools and quality assurance software to further reduce the risk of numerical errors or terminological inconsistencies etc.
